Electric Fat Tire Biking During a Blizzard??

My experience, and what you need to know about the best electric bike for snow.

Last weekend, it snowed a lot in the Twin Cities. We are talking school is out early, don't let small dogs outside because they'll disappear in the snow, levels of snow. And I had the chance to take the Emojo Ram SS home with me, from Powerbikes.com.

I wanted to try to figure out what was the best electric bike for snow, or the best electric bike for winter riding. And, because I commute by ebike to work, I wanted to discover what was the best ebike for winter commuting.

I was really excited about this opportunity because it was a chance to really try out the electric fat tire folding bike trend that we're seeing more and more of.

We closed the Powerbikes.com St. Louis Park location at 2pm so that we could all get home safe from the storm, so I rode home like I usually would.

By this point, the snow had started to accumulate and conditions were really slick.

That's a lot of snow!

I had taken some of our other electric bikes out to see how they would handle in the snow and sometimes felt the bikes slip on snow or struggle to gain traction. That's where I really appreciated the 4" tires on the Emojo Ram SS. They meant that I was getting a huge amount of traction in the loose snow or ice. That's a key consideration when thinking about what the best electric bike for snow is.

Plus, lots of other fat tire electric bikes have tall wheels, which get the rider high off the ground. That's uncomfortable for me, especially in poor weather, because in an emergency I like to set my feet down comfortably on the ground.

But on the Emojo Ram SS, I felt totally comfortable at all times, even up to 20mph with the throttle. This was because of both the fat tires, and the low to the ground feel.

Even in the thickest snow (around 6" deep) I had a lot of fun and was very stable. The cold weather was no match for me and my electric bike!

And, storing this ebike was no problem. With the removable battery, I was able to take the battery upstairs to charge, away from the cold. While I felt comfortable leaving the bike in the heated garage my apartment complex provides, I also could've stored the bike in my apartment.

That's an easy choice with a folding electric bike in the cold temperatures, which can be hurtful to the battery.

I would recommend this bike for winter riders.

After taking this out in a winter storm, and using it to commute to work and home, I would absolutely recommend the Emojo Ram SS for any bikers looking for a great electric bike to ride in the snow or winter.

I even had my girlfriend (not a bike person) ride this electric fat tire bike around the parking lot, and she loved it too and thought it was fun to ride!

Overall, even through deep snow, I would absolutely take this bike out on a commute. That's where I really appreciated the 750W motor and the throttle, which allowed me to power through any challenge when riding to work the morning after the blizzard.

There was some ice but the fat tires gripped well and I stayed upright, and I was able to hit the throttle to get through any situations with cars, and to gain speed quickly.

Thinking about commuting all-year-round? Then think about a fat-tire folding bike--they might be right for you!

Or, if you're just looking to get out and shred, look for a bike with a 750W rear hub motor for the maximum power.

Without a doubt, the Emojo Ram SS is one of the best electric bikes for snow!
